GEOLOGIST (SUBSURFACE DEPARTMENT) to work in Basra, IRAQ on a rotation
of 28 days on and 28 days off on a long- term contract[user] .
Purpose
Responsible for developing and continuously updatinghigh quality fully integrated static reservoir modelsfor producing reservoirs, secondary and exploration targets including
input to reserves update
To assist in updating field development and reservoir management plan
To design and supervise geological wells and data acquisition programand ensure that data is analyzed and interpreted accurately and made
available in a timely manner
Assist in regional studiesand evaluation and maturing prospects Provide input to reserves
studies
Experience/Qualifications Required
Masterââ¬â¢s - Integrated PetroleumGeoscience
Fluent in both ARABIC/ENGLISH, written and spoken
10+ years of diversegeoscience experience with 6 years in area of reservoircharacterization, field development and optimization utilizing
geomodelling tool
Experience with operating and service companiesin a variety of reservoirs and petroleum regions
Expertise in geological modelling techniques and integrated reservoir study
Asset evaluation and development in a varietyof geological settings
Wells and reservoir management
Wells planningincluding pad drilling, geological operations, and supervision of formation evaluation services (coring, mud logging
and wireline)
Regional mappingand exploration
Understanding of geophysical, petrophysical and reservoir engineering domains
Expertise in Petrel application
Ability to take initiatives and deliver under tight timelines
Multitasking, time management, communication, and leadership skills
Demonstrated peopleskills, with the ability to work in multi-cultural, multidiscipline environment
Responsibilities
Geomodelling
Build Geo-cellular reservoir models (static models)
including structural/stratigraphic framework, reservoir layering, distribution
of reservoir rock-type, porosity, saturation, permeability, uncertainty
analysis, volumetric calculations using state-of-the-art software and advanced
technologies, and maintain and update them using the most recent additional
data to allow for optimum resource managementand hydrocarbon recoveryfrom all reservoirs in line with the FieldDevelopment Plan and reservoir
uncertainties
Integrate and managegeoscience and engineering data into geological models for visualization, analysis, evaluation, and
quantitative assessment
Use geological modelsas input to development and appraisal well planning
Teamwork with the reservoir team to end-upwith changes in the staticmodelling compatible with the dynamic understanding
Development Geology
Responsible for developing and maintaining a detail knowledgeof the geology of the Siba and surrounding fields reservoirs
Use geoscience data to define appraisal strategies, field development plans, by-passed
hydrocarbon pay, infill well targets and enhanced hydrocarbon recovery programs
Work with members of subsurface and technical supportteam to ensure timely deliveryof technical deliverables with
highest technical standards
Provide technical support on all geological aspectsto subsurface, TSC, drilling etc. and designbest practice workflows that are tailored for working field
Wells and Reservoir Management
Provide geological input for the monitoring and analysis of well-by-well performance
Support definition of subsurface uncertainties for risk management and surveillance planning
Collect and analyse development well geological data
Assist in defining and updating reservoir management
strategy as well as identifying incremental opportunities to add further
reserves.
Contribute to well testing procedures and results
evaluation. Understanding concept of reservoir simulation, reservoir
displacement, reservoir geology & framework, (stratigraphy/sedimentation),
Rock types and relation to reservoir properties
Operations Geology
Plan exploration/appraisal/development wellsand prepare well proposal/prognosis in collaboration
with Operations Geologist and other disciplines and follow up drilling
operation & well site geoscience activities
Ensure that geological plan compliance to contractual
commitments, companyââ¬â¢s policy, safety manual, current standards, and best
practices of oil and gas industry
Management and technical and quality assurance for all
work carried out by well site geologists, drilling and data acquisition
contractors, and the quality of the subsurface data acquired for each well
Ensuring all drilling risks related to subsurface are
assessed, accounted for, highlighted and documented in the drilling program
together with risk mitigation plans
Direct liaison with drilling department to ensure
alignment of drilling programs with subsurface requirements / objectives
Reserves
Determine
hydrocarbons-in-place by volumetric calculations and provide input for reserve
reports and certification
