SENIOR LEGAL
ADVSIOR  (LEGAL DEPARTMENT) to work in Basra, IRAQ on a rotation of 28
days on and 14 days off on a long- term contract .


 


Purpose


To advise on issuesin relation to Iraqi laws andprovide legal supportto the Legal Manager/Deputy Legal Manager or the management of the
Company.


 


Experience/Qualifications Required


Fluent in both ARABIC/ENGLISH, written and spoken


Graduated from the college of law / law schoolof a reputable university in Iraqor have receivedequivalent level of legal
education overseas, with excellent academic records


Must be qualified to practice Iraqi laws


Legal educationin common law jurisdictions is a plus,but not required

to 6years’ PQE in legal practice,ideally concerning the oil and gas industry


Sound knowledge of Iraqi laws


Excellent draftingand negotiation skills (a writtentest will be administered in this regard)


Ability to think critically and analyse researchinformation


Able to maintain adequateconfidentiality to all information acquired by virtue of his
post from the documents received or during the meetings


 


Responsibilities


 


General Compliance Support


Advise the management and other departments on issues in relation to Iraqi laws, particularly in relation
to compliance with employment laws and environmental laws and regulations, with
a general objective to ensure that the Company’s operations in compliance with
the applicable laws of Iraq


Draft and review important business correspondence of the Companywith stakeholders.


 


Contract Management Support


Draft, negotiateand review commercial contracts of the Company


Prepare, review,and update standardcontract templates of the Company


Other supportregarding the performance and interpretation of contracts


 


Dispute Management Support


Assist in the management of local disputes, including attending court hearings in person, if necessary


Prepare and update legal advice or reports the strategies for resolving the Company’s disputes


Coordinate, prepareand review filingswith courts, tribunals, or counterparties in disputes


Maintain and update periodicreports or summarieson the Company’s disputes


 


General Administrative Matters


Prepare and review the relevant policies,processes, and procedures of the Company


Prepare periodicreports of legalaffairs to the management of the Companyand the Group


Maintain and update the corporate files of the Company


Coordinate and manage the work of outside counsel


Provide legal trainings to the management and other personnel of the Company


Other support to the Legal Manager/Deputy Legal Manager
